Update Notifications
Events may happen to transpire while you are visiting the Ops Tracker and it will occasionally inform you of when they do. This could come with a spontaneous update as new data is received for the page you are viewing or via a dialog message informing you that the update is occurring elsewhere on the site and offer to take you there. It's important to note that none of these updates will reload the entire page, just alter the content that you are seeing.

You'll see update indicators in various places to let you know something new has happened - the Data Box in Vessel Details will have black notification icons, the Social Feed will have blue ones, and the Operations Menu will have badges (all visible in the above screenshot).
For the Crew Roster there will also be change indicators in the Data Box but two notifications unique to this view are in the Past Missions drop-down and awarded ribbons. The drop-down will show what missions have been added and track the ones you view. You have the option to mark them all as read. The ribbons will have a pulsing yellow update indicator until you hover over them.

All change indicators can be cleared by hovering your cursor over them and some will clear when you hover your cursor over an element in the data field that has a tooltip. Menu badges will reduce their count when you click on one of the bolded items that indicate they have new data.
Updates for when you are viewing the site in realtime and in Past History mode do not share data, so looking at previous events in a live setting will have its own cache to remember what you have seen. This is erased every time you back up the clock to a point earlier than you last visited.
Paging through a vessel's Mission History will also use change notifiers to make clear what differs between mission states, again this is separate from the data used to track the vessel's most recent updates.
