ScoreKernel was launched with the template on x and the job on y. gridDim.y is capped at 65,535, and the job count is curves times candidate periods, so a batch of about 262 curves at 250 periods each failed the launch with an invalid configuration argument. The template count is a bank size and stays far below the cap, so the two axes swap. gridDim.x allows 2^31-1. No change to what is computed: each block still handles the same (job, template) pair and writes the same slot in best.
