[Homebrew] Deprecation notice for "the verified parameter in the url stanza is deprecated" #20257

Description

@tebeco

Homebrew 7.0.4: deprecated verified parameter in Aspire cask

Description

Running Homebrew maintenance commands with the Aspire cask installed produces repeated warnings that the verified parameter in the cask's url stanza is deprecated.

Image

Homebrew points to Casks/a/aspire.rb:10 and explicitly asks that this be reported to microsoft/homebrew-aspire.

Environment

  • macOS: 27.0
  • Homebrew: 7.0.4
  • Aspire CLI (aspire --version): 13.5.4+9c1b401dd67746739044f68959cbf4d3d7af93a6

Steps to reproduce

With the Aspire cask installed, run:

brew update; brew upgrade; brew upgrade --cask $(brew list --cask); brew autoremove; brew cleanup

Actual behavior

The following warning appears five times during the command sequence:

Warning: Calling the `verified` parameter in the `url` stanza is deprecated! Use the default URL verification behaviour instead.
Please report this issue to the microsoft/homebrew-aspire tap (not Homebrew/* repositories), or even better, submit a PR to fix it:
/opt/homebrew/Library/Taps/microsoft/homebrew-aspire/Casks/a/aspire.rb:10

Expected behavior

The Aspire cask should use Homebrew's supported default URL verification behavior without emitting this deprecation warning.

Suggested change

Remove the deprecated verified parameter from the url stanza in Casks/a/aspire.rb, as recommended by the warning.

Scope

The same command sequence also emitted a separate postflight deprecation warning for azure/homebrew-azd. This issue concerns only the Aspire cask's verified warning.
