Meisterpilze UG is an urban specialty-mushroom farm in Erlangen, Germany. We grow gourmet mushrooms for restaurants, retail, and home growers, and we open-source the operational tools we build for our own lab so that other small labs and farms can run them too.
This GitHub organization hosts those tools — production-tested in our own lab, released under permissive copyleft so anyone with a real cultivation operation can self-host them freely.
meistertracker — a self-hosted lab management system for mushroom cultivation. Barcode-scan every fruiting block from inoculation to harvest, print labels at the workbench, file contamination reports with photos, sync tasks to any CalDAV calendar, and expose the lab to LLM clients via the Model Context Protocol. One Node.js process, SQLite, no cloud — runs on Windows, macOS, or Linux, including a Raspberry Pi. Released under AGPL-3.0-or-later.
Meisterpilze UG was founded in June 2024 by Dr. Jonas Hahn (research, biologist) and Luis Veloso (production, chemist) in Erlangen, Germany. The lab grows fresh gourmet mushrooms and produces the substrates, growkits, and accessories that let others grow at home. The cultivation work and the software are built by the same small team — which is why the tooling is shaped around how a real mushroom lab actually works rather than how a generic ERP imagines it should.

Issues and pull requests are welcome on any of our repositories. We're a small team running a real lab, so reviews are maintainer-paced — but good contributions land. For security vulnerabilities, please use the per-project Security Advisory form (linked in each repo's SECURITY.md) instead of opening a public issue.
