Hi thank you for reporting this. Did you install appy from PyPI? That version is a bit outdated. Recently v0.3.0-alpha was released, and please just clone this repo and install it via pip install -e .. The 0.3.0 version includes a major refactoring and API updating, and many of the old examples will no longer work. Here's the latest examples that work with 0.3.0:

SpMM has not been added yet - I can add it later using the latest programming interface if that is of interest. Thank you for trying it out and sorry about the confusion.

Here it is: https://github.com/habanero-lab/APPy/blob/main/examples/06-spmm.py. Note that this implementation uses 1d array expressions inside the parallel loop, which is an experimental feature that has not been well tested. But for this code it works fine. Also the current implementation is not necessarily the most efficient - for example, the accumulation into y[i, :] in the k loop could be hoisted if y[i, :] is of small size and can fit in registers, etc.

If you have a particular Python code you'd like to accelerate with APPy, I'd be happy to take a look and see how to convert it :).
