abtop already shows how much of the 5-hour window Claude and Codex have left. When one of them is about to run out, the next step for many people is to switch to the other agent, and then explain the whole task again. ccx is a macOS menu bar app that does that hand-off with the full context: messages, task list, condensed tool output and
git status, kept in sync both ways. With abtop on the PATH, ccx now uses abtop's numbers. When either side's 5-hour window passes 90%, or is used up, it notifies once and offers that side's newest session to continue in the other agent in one click. So for abtop users, a near-full limit bar becomes a one-click next step instead of a wait for the reset. How ccx uses abtop: it runs
abtop --jsonat most once every 5 minutes. It reads onlyrate_limits[]:source,five_hour_pct,five_hour_resets_atandfive_hour_window_minutes, plusseven_day_pctandseven_day_resets_atto detect a used-up weekly window. Aresets_atof 0 is treated as unknown. It doesn't read sessions, prompts or files. Since--jsonusestick_no_summaries(), it never spawnsclaude --print. Without abtop nothing changes, and Claude's numbers appear once the user has runabtop --setup. This shipped in ccx v0.0.33 (MIT, everything local). The change is a three-line sentence after the abtop-web-ui mention in "Library / JSON snapshot". The README test in
src/snapshot.rsstill holds, since no existing text changed.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
