Context. pdf, docx, and image-OCR parsing in ingest/parse.ts use optional, lazily-loaded libs (pdf-parse, mammoth, tesseract.js) not in package.json by default. Today an unsupported file fails with a generic message.
What to do. Detect when a file needs an uninstalled parser and surface a clear, actionable prompt (npm i pdf-parse …) in both the API response and the drag-and-drop UI. Optionally a one-click "enable rich file parsing" that installs the trio.
Acceptance. Dropping a PDF without the parser installed yields an obvious "install X to enable PDF" message instead of a silent failure.
