Fix Mermaid class diagram annotations in MarkdownViewer - #2059
Annotations such as <<interface>> in a classDiagram are parsed by the browser as HTML tags, so the diagram source is corrupted before Mermaid sees it and rendering fails with "Syntax error in text".
Fix
Escape < in the Mermaid source before inserting it into the container:
The bundled Mermaid reads the element's innerHTML and decodes entities (entityDecode) before parsing, so it still receives the original source.
Only < is escaped on purpose. It is the only character that starts markup, so this is enough to stop the browser from treating <<interface>> as tags. Other entities are left untouched, so documents that already contain entities in their Mermaid source (e.g. A --> B) keep rendering as before. Escaping & as well (md.utils.escapeHtml) would turn --> into a literal --> and break those diagrams.
Verification
Built with dotnet build (Debug) and previewed in the app with Space, using a .md file with several mermaid blocks, a .mermaid file and a .mmd file:
stateDiagram with <<choice>> / <<fork>> renders correctly
Generics (Box~T~, List~T~) and a label containing a & b < c > d are preserved
<br/>, <br>, <b>, <i> in labels render as before
Existing flowcharts / sequence diagrams render as before
Entities written directly in the source (X --> Y) still render as before
.mermaid and .mmd files render correctly
The same md2html.html was also compared before/after in headless Edge (normalized SVG output): the cases above are identical to the old behavior, except <<interface>>, which used to fail with a syntax error and now renders.
This is a one-line change limited to the Mermaid rendering path of the MarkdownViewer.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.
Walkthrough
The Mermaid fence renderer now replaces each < in diagram source with < before inserting the source into the .mermaid element. Other characters and entities remain unchanged.
Mermaid annotations are escaped before rendering; no merge-blocking issue was identified.

Explanation
[#2054] md2html.html escapes each < in Mermaid fence content before assigning the rendered HTML to innerHTML. This prevents annotations and generic text from becoming HTML tags. The issue does not require an automated test. The reported manual checks describe escapeHtml, not the current <-only implementation.
