Automation and manufacturing simulation projects conducted using KUKA.Sim, covering robot programming, fixture design, and process simulation from internship work at OPmobility and personal engineering projects.
This repository documents robot simulation and automation projects created in KUKA.Sim, the official offline programming and simulation software for KUKA industrial robots. Projects span both professional internship work at OPmobility (automotive plastic components manufacturer) and personal engineering explorations.
KUKA.Sim allows engineers to model robotic workcells, simulate robot programs, optimize cycle times, and detect collisions before physical implementation — reducing commissioning risk and improving production efficiency.

Projects completed during an internship at OPmobility, a global Tier-1 automotive supplier specializing in intelligent exterior systems and clean energy systems. These simulations supported manufacturing process design and robot programming.
Automation Manufacturing
- Robot workcell layout and simulation for automated manufacturing processes
- Program verification and cycle time optimization
Collision detection and reachability analysis for robot path planning
Filament Winding
- Simulation of robotic filament winding processes for composite part manufacturing
KUKA robot path generation for winding patterns on mandrel geometries
Integration of winding process parameters with robot motion planning
Independent KUKA.Sim projects exploring robotic automation scenarios, process simulation techniques, and advanced robot programming concepts outside of a professional context.
- KUKA.Sim — Offline programming (OLP) and simulation
- Robotic workcell design and layout planning
- KUKA Robot Language (KRL) programming
- Cycle time analysis and process optimization
Collision-free path planning
- 3D CAD integration with simulation environments
KUKA.Sim is the industry-standard simulation platform for KUKA robots, enabling:
- Virtual commissioning of robot programs
- Accurate 3D visualization of robotic workcells
- Automatic code generation for KUKA controllers
Import of CAD models (STEP, IGES, etc.)
- Cycle time measurement and optimization tools
The OPmobility projects were completed during a co-op/internship at OPmobility, formerly Plastic Omnium, a global leader in automotive exterior systems. The personal projects reflect independent learning and exploration of industrial robotics and automation.
