Hello, I too was looking to improve the HSF website but I am not sure if project proposals pertaining to HSF website are considered for GSoC.
I went through the guidelines for contributing and the past projects did not have a project proposed towards improving the website.
Could you please throw some light on this?

Hi @GlyphicGuy , no I am not aware of any projects targeting the website. It's statically generated and fairly simple, so there's not that much to do, but you can check the issues.

Hello. I agree with @vvolkl. We do welcome any improvements/PRs from anyone - there are several examples from recent months.

IIRC there was in the past an idea to revamp the site but that never materialised for lack of time and website design expertise. Let me cc @graeme-a-stewart as he will remember details.

Re. the website revamp, we did explore converting the website from Jekyll to Hugo and using a new template. However, we didn't find a good tool to ease this (we have a lot of historical content) and in the end the benefits didn't justify the considerable effort it would have taken to do this. Any fixes and improvements to the current website remain welcome though.
