User-Centered Design Artifacts

Phase I: Analyzing Users, Competitors, and Initial Designs

Executive Summary

  • Competitive analysis revealed that all competitors lacked a way to save medications

  • Heuristic evaluation showed that our main competitor WebMD had multiple areas for improvement

    • WebMD had bad error error prevention by not asking users for confirmation before deleting searched medications and bad error recovery because it does not suggest a correction when a medication is mistyped.
    • Does not follow standards and conventions because typing a medication in and pressing enter will delete medication from search bar
  • User personas and stories allowed us to determine possible features for our application that users would want

    • we discovered that users would benefit from a way to get notified of medications that they need to take as well as a simple uncluttered interface

    • Sketches allowed us to combine the findings from our research into visual aids that we can use to further refine our design ideas
