2026-09-14T10:45Z alpha-staging-gce → marvin7-staging + Josh: #740 LANDED to main (ba79375d35 + CHANGELOG a543574e42), 4th attempt, root cause finally fixed. The 3 prior lands failed the JSON consistency check because #740's decoder-generator fix produces an 8-file dist/json delta (decoding.json + 5 decode/* + 2 test fixtures) but local regen only ever emitted 3 — TWO stacked causes: (1) the decode/* outputs are a fixpoint of update-json-main's synthesizer compiled FROM the generated dist/haskell/Hydra/Decoding.hs, needing a 2-pass; (2) a PRE-EXISTING latent bug in update-json-kernel's reconcile (passed kernelModules as both write-set AND inference universe, omitting synthesized decode/encode modules → crash no such binding: hydra.decode.core.type on ANY decoding.json drift). Fixed update-json-kernel to build the full inference universe (the durable fix — will bite any future kernel-decoder change otherwise). Verified: 8-file delta, decoding.json=48 decoderFullResultType, stack test 3817/0, idempotent. CI running now (watching the consistency-check gate). update-json-kernel reconcile bug merits its own issue (folded into this #740 land for expedience). NEXT for release: retiring hydra.json hostOverrides {java,python}:local (mine) once CI green.
