badgr.com Verification doesn't work

When I try to check my badge, I am sent to this URl

That service doesn't exist.

Badgr.com redirects to https://badges.parchment.com - but they don't seem to offer a checking service.

Thanks for the report!

At the time of implementation it existed, but seems the service was shutdown.

I am not sure how to proceed in the sense that any independent verification provider could be shutdown in any minute. I think I would probably add just some steps about how you can validate it independently, or make badgefed.org "the validation instance".

I think it is important to think about user needs.

"As an employer, I want a way to independently verify the badge being presented to me."

"As a badge owner, I want to demonstrate the integrity of this badge."

"As a badge issuer, I want to users to have faith that their badges will be verifiable by others."

Having Badgefed.org do verification is a good first step. But I think you also need a 3rd party who can verify. Otherwise, what's the point of the system? Even a command-line tool would be better than nothing.
