How to debug the Workspace

Hi dear NeXTspace community,

I am trying to resolve issues, and I need to run gdb, but I must understand the way to debug Workspace as it is associated with the Window Manager. I tried to call it with debugapp tool in .xinitrc, but this was unsuccessful: producing a blank screen.

I read also that: Hacking on/debugging your window manager but it implies to modify WM code...
Shall I go this way with X-nesting ?

Do You use Project Builder to load another instance of the Workspace inside the Workspace itself ?

So how do You debug it ?
