Picking the camera that is live shouldn't put it to preview, just select it for moving

It should only select it for motion. There's no need to preview it if it's already live - leave whatever was on preview there.

This would mean you could control the live camera while still having another camera or feed ready to go in preview.

Is this an actual issue that visuals operators are complaining about, or are we theorycrafting?

What if a camera is live as part of a composite scene, and you genuinely want to preview the camera solo?

I haven't spoken to other visuals operators, but when I am driving, I often want to make a slight adjustment to the live camera, but still have a wide shot or the next slide or whatever ready in case it is needed.

I'm not quite sure what you would include as a "composite scene". This should apply when I try to select the same thing that is already live, and preview would be pointless (pressing cut or fade would do nothing). You could make a second tap force it to preview, if you needed to preview DSKs or something.

This would kind of go away if we had multiple rows of buttons, for select, preview, live, etc., like you'd get on a real control surface.
