External links can be added to any single object, but it would be useful if they could also be used with multiple objects at once via the multiselect in the object listing. The external link could then simply receive a comma separated list of IDs.
I'm not sure if a new type of external link would make sense or if a simple "multiselect": true would be sufficient.
The current workflow would be to create a sample group and then use an external link on the group object, but a multiselect option would be easier if the samples do not form a real sample group.
