Cannot build on Debian Sid

The build process fails in my Debian Sid box. The error I get is

Stack was just installed today (11/29/24) using:

The real build error happened earlier. Can you start the build again and post the whole build output?

Oh, that's bad. There is an error in generating the Haskell bindings to the C-libraries, which means the C header files are probably too new for c2hs and gtk2hs-buildtools.

I'll have a look into that, but it might take a while.

Can you just send me the version information of the c2hs (c2hs --version)? I will also try to reproduce here.

Should I try installing it or should it have been installed with stack?

You can try to install it, that is also the version that is available at hackage.haskell.org. The gtk2hs-buildtools (which is basically a modified version of c2hs), are normally installed via stack automatically at build.

I fear this won't work, as the whole Haskell dependencies probably need some update. You can still try, though.

I updated the dependencies in a quick shot, and it now compiles on my machine, but unfortunately, it crashes on startup deep down in the GTK libraries.

The GTK binding that I used for it are now deprecated and I fear that it doesn't hold up against the current GTK3 versions, that's why it crashes. I think currently the only solution would be to port the whole thing to gi-gtk, which are the current, supported bindings. But this is a major task and I don't know how long this will take.
