I know starring system exists in Nemo, however there's one thing could implemented: searching for it.
By this what I mean, is if I'm in a specific folder, allow me to filter by stars. As an example I'd like to bring up KDE's Dolphin:
So here you can see I'm in a folder, and if I'd select any stars, it would show me results from the actual folder and recursively downwards.
Currently in Nemo, starred files are put into the left hand menu, where all the starred files are contained in one view and it can be overwhelming to see the one I'm looking for. By adding this, one could find their favorite content specifically initiating from the current directory.
To me it is very important, since I work with a lot of pictures and videos, and on KDE I have over literally tens of thousands of starred media files which are important to me. Now on KDE if I for example know the artist, I just go into their main folder and filter only the starred files and get the results I want.
In Nemo however I can't filter (isolate) within a folder as for now, only just from starred view, but there are favorites from other artists which are not relevant for me (creating a "noise" when trying to find what I need) at that time when I'm filtering for a specific.
