Releases
Linux Mint 21.x
Compatibility
Works fine with some minor problems
Description of the hardware
The Dell Latitude 7285 2-in-1 is a convertible laptop released sometime in 2017 or 2018 by Dell and uses the Intel Kaby Lake architecture. Mine's running Linux Mint 22.2 currently, and just about everything works compared to some earlier accounts on earlier versions of mint.
WHAT WORKS: Pretty much all of the basic required laptop functionality does, including ACPI and Touch Screen functionality, and the microSD card reader which was previously a problem on some distributions.
WHAT DOESN'T: Audio is only partially working, in that it works on the internal speakers, but doesn't detect when headphones are plugged into the headphone jack on the tablet part of the device. More of a minor annoyance. The worst of the hardware problems are the cameras, which is some strange ich3 based solution that has front and rear cameras like a smartphone, and seems not to have driver support, at least not yet.

Optional - Notes
HEADPHONES - my current workaround is bluetooth headphones, or USB Wired headphones through the USB-C port using an adapter. I have a Polycom stereo headset I use for this. Otherwise, I don't need speakers too often.
WEBCAM - Currently I'm looking into solutions with things like libcamera and possibly even trying out one of the custom Surface kernels on this device to see if it works for getting these working. Otherwise, I'm using a circa 2010 Logitech webcam with a USB-C adapter if I want to video anything with the device.
