I have been using the "Recommended" Windows Update policy in Winhance for the past month. I noticed my system wasn't pulling the August 2026 monthly updates. Assuming something was broken, I reverted the policy to "Default," and Windows immediately found and started downloading the missing patches (see attached

While I realize now that the "Recommended" setting is intentionally deferring standard Quality Updates for stability-and successfully allowing critical Defender and Malicious Software Removal Tool updates to pass through-this behavior is not clear in the application's interface. It makes it look like Winhance has broken the Windows Update service.

I can confirm this. In my case, setting the policy to Recommended (Security Updates Only) would show up the August 2026 Security Update but it would return with an install error when trying to download it after running Windows Update. Changing the policy back to Default (Normal) and then running Windows Update would properly and successfully install the August 2026 Security Update.

I do have to add that i'm on a Home version of Windows 11, so i'm not quite sure if this affects my case (and is also the culprit for OP's troubles)
