AVI VideoWriterType ?

The VideoWriterType class currently offer two mp4 codecs to record videos.
Do you plan to add an .avi encoding method in a future version of the sdk ? Or maybe is it available yet in an alpha version ?

Right now, it is not planned.

What would be your use-case for this? Which codec would you want to use?

This request comes from a customer using an application I made, based on IC4, to record videos with a DFK 33UX546.
Recording is triggered by a signal arriving directly on the camera, using eventControl.

I do not have any specificaiton about the codec.

We really like to take customer requests into consideration.

However, without an explanation which problem recording AVI files solve that the existing software does not, it is hard to justify priority for this.

Hello Tim,

I received more information from my customer.
He wants to use an open-source tool (ImageJ) to export an image sequence from the videos he records, but this tool doesn't work with MP4 files.
In this case, he could just record images directly instead of a video, but initially, he expressed the need to record videos, which guided the way I wrote my program.

The solution I gave him was to use the FFmpeg tool to convert his videos into image sequences.
