The default domains ("full", "alps") of preset "opr/ifs-hres-eu/all_pdf" (file: src/pyflexplot/data/presets/opr/ifs-hres-eu/all_pdf.toml) do not work well with output from Flexpart based on nested (global/Europe) IFS data. As this Flexpart output is on a global grid, the "full" domain translates to maps of the whole globe and the "alps" domain to a map centered at the origin of the geographical coordinates (0°,0°).
The preset works correctly with output from Flexpart based solely on non-nested IFS data for the high resolution European domain. This Flexpart set-up is not used in routine production, only for on-demand runs.
Similarly, if global Flexpart output is processed with the "ifs-hres-eu" preset, the "full" and "alps" domains should correspond to the nested high-resolution domain encompassing Europe and the ICON domain, respectively.
The high resolution IFS data for Europe extends from 10°W to 47°E and from 35°N to 65°N.
The named domains are defined in function get_domain in file src/pyflexplot/plots.py, where the content of domain (instance of class Domain) is set depending on the value of the variable domain_type, which takes its value from field.panel_setup.domain.
