Certain symbol combinations auto-switch to main keyboard

Describe the bug
When typing some symbols together (like :) for example), the keyboard automatically reverts to the main layout (letters).

To Reproduce
Type any of the following symbol combos (not sure if exhaustive):
:)
:(

Expected behavior
The keyboard remains in symbol mode regardless of the typed symbols.
