GoodBuilders Season 4 -- Metrics and Reporting

Context

GoodBuilders Season 4 has kicked off (first week of Jul 2026). Season 3 reporting was stressful and last-minute, with inconsistent metric definitions and the reporting burden falling entirely on the data team. This season, we are fixing that from the start.

Previous season work tracked under closed issues in this repo and in the builders-metrics repo.

Goal

Standardized, self-serve metrics for all S4 Builder projects -- so reporting is comparable across projects, scalable, and owned by the teams themselves.

Scope

• Data dictionary: canonical metric names, definitions, and calculation methods
• Dune query templates that projects fork with their own contract addresses
• S4 project registry import
• Reporting cadence and format design
• Demo day support (week of Jul 14)

Current Status

Project folder created (projects/goodbuilders-s4/). Awaiting S4 project list from Rael. Call scheduled for Tue Jul 15 to review metrics, naming conventions, and templates.

Value

Projects measure the same things the same way. Reporting burden shifts from data team to the projects themselves. Eliminates the S3 pattern of rushed, inconsistent, stressful end-of-season reporting.

Status update (2026-07-22)

Metrics alignment in progress. Key milestones:

• Reviewed and commented on Rael's metrics alignment doc (17 proposed metrics cross-referenced against S3 nomenclature)
• Data dictionary draft in progress locally -- not yet published. Covers canonical names, definitions, calculation methods, known limitations, and G$/USD price methodology
• Per-project architecture checklist sent to Rael for async completion (9 active S4 projects)
• MentoBroker reserve rate confirmed as the G$/USD price reference -- investigating Dune decoding for native support
• Exploring cohort-based retention curves as a reporting addition (averaged across weekly cohorts for a smooth trend line)

Blocking items:

• Awaiting project-level architecture details from Rael (checklist sent)
• S4 season dates and chain scope not yet confirmed
• Alignment meeting rescheduled to Monday (async prep continuing)

Next steps:

• Finalize data dictionary after alignment meeting
• Build parameterized Dune query templates (bundled by logical group)
• Decode MentoBroker on Dune for native G$/USD price feed
