Context
The EP (Experimental Physics) department at CERN requires a formal approval workflow (called Publication Workflow with EP Approval) before publications from specific experiment collaborations can be made publicly available with an official CERN-EP report number.
Only specific communities will have this workflow enabled (not all CDS communities). It is a community-level feature flag.
The workflow involves:
- A community manager submitting an EP approval request for a specific record version to the EP referee/committee group configured for that community
- The EP referee reviewing and approving (CDS auto-generates the CERN-EP-yyyy-xxx number on approval — it is immutable post-assignment) or declining
- [Optional - community dependent] After approval, a community manager optionally triggering "Create Public approved record" — a new separate public record cloned from the approved version, linked to the original draft history, and submitted to the "CERN research" community for curation
